How will you make an impact?


You will be part of the Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development Team within the Biosciences Division in the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group. As part of this team you will have medium to high complexity Project Management responsibilities. You will contribute to portfolio management tasks such as: data collection, data verification, data analysis, and presentation preparation.

The Program Manager role will include responsibility for leading product development teams through Thermo Fisher Scientific’s best practice stage gate Product Commercialization Process (PCP). You will ensure the teams do follow product development/program management best practices, adhere to specific regulatory requirements (as needed), ensure design control standards are met, and will drive program budget adherence and overall project execution.


With your confident, independent and engaging manner you will navigate well in our complex matrix structure and lead teams in an effective and inspiring way. When you succeed in this role our customers will benefit with high quality “state of the art” products.


What will you do?

  • Responsible for all aspects of product development projects from Concept, to Product Launch and completing with Project Closure
  • Responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on budget, on schedule, and within scope. Own the result goals (quality, time, cost). Act as project champion and project “general manager”. Lead cross-functional core teams that execute all project deliverables. This includes, but is not limited to, work breakdown structure/planning, resource planning, coaching, review quality of work.
  • Lead, direct and be responsible for day-to-day aspects, on-time delivery, and risk management of projects and programs.
  • Secure acceptance and approval of deliverables from the project sponsor and steering committee. Implement decisions made by the steering committee.
  • Responsible for project communication, including status reporting, project risk management, escalation of issues that cannot be resolved in the team.
  • Stakeholder management to ensure customer satisfaction and alignment in organization
  • Work, communicate and influence effectively with high performing cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Provide training and constructive input to core team members.
  • Interact with peers, functional groups and customers; presents project status and updates to the Product Approval Committee.
  • May support staff and senior staff level program managers with larger programs that consist of several smaller projects. In this role you may lead some of the projects that comprise the program and report, dotted line, to staff and senior staff level program managers.


How will you get there?

  • Up to 2+ years of relevant experience in managing projects of varying size and complexity through stage-gate processes, preferably in the life sciences field.
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific field or business administration; or equivalent trade-off in related professional work experience.
  • Experience developing products in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with MicroSoft software, including MS Project
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, a Scandinavian language is a plus
