Senior Accountant 

On behalf of Longboat Energy Norge AS, Vega Consultants is looking for a senior accountant to join Longboat's team in Stavanger. The candidate will be a qualified accountant with minimum 10 years post qualification experience. 

Longboat’s finance function is run as a virtual finance function by the accountants AAB, who have established the systems and who conduct a lot of the day-to-day accounting services through the accounting system Xero, such as booking invoices, setting up bank payments, preparing monthly management accounts, running payroll, managing time writing, reconciliations and preparing drafts of the statutory accounts.  In addition, to AAB Longboat uses a very experienced part time Finance Manager from time to time for work and advice on Norwegian tax returns / issues, employee tax, and designing the next stage of booking and reporting.

As Longboat completes more deals and becomes an operator it is envisaged that Longboat will consider bringing its accounting in house and will look to use Sun systems or Visma.  The candidate will be involved in the decision to choose the future alternative accounting system.

At this stage, with the new exploration portfolio, it is envisaged the Accountant/Controller will have the following responsibilities supervised by the Finance Manager.

Work Tasks

• Review Joint Venture Billings (JVB) from operators and make sure they agree to the accounts;
• Participate in the preparation of the both the Group and subsidiary annual budgets and prepare quarterly update forecasts;
• Review the monthly Group management accounts prepared by AAB;
• Prepare the 12 week cashflow on a weekly basis, comparing forecasts vs actual;
• Support the economist with the preparation of a Group 5 year plan;
• Assist/Support with bank payment approvals;
• Assist/Support with Treasury;
• Support/administering the Exploration Finance Facility and liaising with Finance Manager and Agent for the banks;
• Reviewing both the Group and subsidiary accounts;
• Support in correspondence with Oil Taxation Office (OTO);
• Coordinate with external auditors;
• Support in Pro & Contra settlements;
• Ad hoc task

• The candidate should have minimum a bachelor’s degree.
• Over 10 years post qualification experience
