Vi er et kollektiv av kuratorer og produsenter som jobber med grenseoverskridende samtidskunstprosjekter fra Kirkenes. Våre største satsinger er den årlige kunstfestivalen Barents Spektakel, residencyprogrammet BAR International og prosjekt- og visningsrommet Terminal B.

Vi leter etter en kollega som er kommunikativ, engasjert, har lidenskap for samtidskunst og kan jobbe med et vidt spenn av praktiske og strategiske oppgaver, med hovedvekt på kommunikasjons- og publikumsutvikling.

Dine hovedoppgaver vil være:

videreutvikling av og pågående arbeid med Pikenes kommunikasjonsstrategi lokalt, regionalt, nasjonalt og internasjonalt i samarbeid med Pikenes kuratoriske team;
videreutvikling av og pågående arbeid med synliggjøring av Pikenes prosjekter lokalt, regionalt, nasjonalt og internasjonalt;
publikumsutvikling iht. våre hovedsatsinger (Barents Spektakel, Terminal B) og øvrige arrangementer (workshops, debatter, seminarer, m. mer);

I tillegg har vi behov for å assistere vårt kuratoriske team med:

prosjektledelse av enkelte kunstprosjekter;
praktisk bistand i planlegging, koordinering og produksjon av kunstprosjekter og arrangementer;

Ønskete kvalifikasjoner:

relevant utdanning innen PR/kommunikasjon og/eller kunst eller realkompetanse;
erfaring fra arbeid med nettsider (WordPress), podcastproduksjon, foto- og videodokumentasjon;
erfaring fra prosjektarbeid innen kulturbransjen og samtidskunst;
eksellent muntlig og skriftlig fremstillingsevne på norsk (eller et annet skandinavisk språk) og engelsk;
kjennskap til Russland og russisk språk er en fordel;

interesse for samtidskunst;
en positiv og sosial lagspiller, som liker å jobbe i et tett, lite kollegium og på egenhånd;
strukturert, systematisk og med et øye for detaljer
lyst til å oppleve kunst, liv og virke i det grensesprengende nord;

Personlig egnethet vil bli vektlagt.

Vikariatet løper til 30.09.2022, med mulighet for forlengelse.

Om arbeidsgiveren

Pikene på Broen is a collective of curators and producers based in the north-eastern Norwegian town of Kirkenes. Located 15km from the Russian border and 50km from the Finnish border, the town of Kirkenes is ideally placed for cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange in the Arctic. Pikene på Broen was established in 1996 and has spent the past 25 years realising large and small
scale cultural projects – called ‘border-crossing exercises’ which provide new perspectives on the north while initiating discussions on themes relevant to the Barents Region.
In 2009 Pikene på Broen was awarded the 2009 Eckbos Legaters Culture Prize. The jury´s conclusion reads:
"Pikene på Broen have contributed significantly to making Kirkenes one of the most important towns in Norway and through their art projects, they have challenged understanding of geopolitics, centre and periphery."

Pikene på Broen’s core activities include:

TERMINAL B - Terminal B is the new Barents hub for genre and border crossing art projects. A place where professional artists can share their interests in the High North with art connoisseurs, an engaged local public as well as visitors and tourists to the Arctic. It is a point of departure for an exploration of the Barents borderland in transition and for the discovery of alternative solutions to existing conventions. Terminal B is a gateway into and out from the Barents region, showcasing exceptional home-grown productions.

BARENTS SPEKTAKEL - The Barents Spektakel is Norway’s most border crossing festival! The festival is a cultural political cocktail with contemporary art and music, theatre and performance, literature and architecture and seminars and debates as its ingredients – all spiced with current issues related to the Barents Region and the High North in general. The festival first started in 2004 and in February 2021 transformed Kirkenes into a Barents Metropolis for the 17th time.

BAR INTERNATIONAL - Hosted by Pikene på Broen since 2004, the BAR International artist-in-residency program is open for artists of all genres along with musicians, architects, researchers and curators who are interested in exploring the Barents borderland in transition – an area which is a gateway to Russia, a crossroad for political decisions in the Arctic and a laboratory for creative solutions to economic, cultural and social challenges in the border region.

TRANSBORDER CAFE - The Transborder Cafe is a concept involving open discussions related to current political and cultural issues with contributions by artists, musicians, writers, politicians and researchers. Pushing the boundaries on topics relevant to the north, the format invites audiences as active participants and the events are often flavored with theme related food and drinks. The evening is concluded with musical performances.
