The Hardware Tools team is a dedicated team of 21 hardware and software engineers, mainly located in Oslo, Norway. We are responsible for delivering world-class development tools for Silicon Labs’ current and future portfolio of IoT devices, like microcontrollers, wireless devices, and sensor devices.
Our tasks span from design specification to following up our contract manufacturer, ensuring timely delivery of almost 150 different development kit types to customers worldwide. Within the team we develop hardware, embedded software, cross-platform PC software and scripts for automation. We also design our own hardware and software infrastructure for circuit board production tests and firmware regression tests.
We are seeking a senior hardware designer with a strong background in embedded systems design. Key responsibilities will be hardware development, from architecture development through schematic capture, PCB layout follow up and prototype validation in the lab.
Who Are You?
You are a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or have an equivalent education. You have minimum 5 years of professional experience in electronics design.
- Deep knowledge of all phases of electronic circuit design, including layout, manufacturing and production testing.
- Experience with schematic capture tools.
- Cadence OrCAD Capture and/or Altium Designer is an advantage.
- Broad knowledge of electronic design, such as microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, power design, analog electronics, sensors, etc.
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers and short-range wireless devices.
- Knowledge of PCB design and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of programming languages like C and Python.
- Good understanding of embedded software, or the desire to learn more about the interaction between hardware, firmware and software in an embedded system.
- Interest for automation/scripting of tasks.
- Interest for development processes.
