We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in statistic and material science to generate in-depth understanding of the link between process conditions and resulting material properties in our metal based Additive Manufacturing systems (AM). The AM machines are developed at Eggemoen Technology Centre (ETC) and utilizes our patented Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) technology. The position requires a skilled engineer willing to learn, and able to collaborate well within a highly competent R&D environment.

Work description

The Materials Engineer and Data Analyst will be part of the RPD Materials and Process Foundation team at ETC and collaborate with experts within manufacturing, software, metallurgy, NDT, process control, automation, and mechanical design. The Analyst will work in a dedicated materials team with in-depth knowledge of our unique RPD additive manufacturing process and metallurgy, especially Titanium metallurgy.

The person will analyze material properties as well as process data by using statistical methods and maintain overview of RPD material properties for customer interactions and technology qualifications. You will perform statistical analysis of material properties based on Aerospace standards and methods and seek in-depth knowledge of industrial and OEM’s material testing standards. The position is key in Norsk Titanium’s statistical analysis of RPD process generated data and you will initiate and supervise material testing at external laboratories.

The role will also lead and take part in development projects for process foundation, process documentation and continuous process improvements.

• Are educated on university level within the field’s material science/metallurgy/physics or similar
• Has a strong background on statistical methods or a high interest and ability to learn
• Has experience with statistical tools like Minitab or similar
• Has the ability to work with development in a cross functional, industrial, and international environment
• Are analytic and with ability to handle complex customer approvals and requirements
• Are structured and accurate in daily work
• Has the ability to communicate with external suppliers and take part in customer interactions
