Plant Director at FREYR AS
We are looking for candidates who want to run the first battery cell factories in Norway.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We need a Plant Director to lead the facilities in Mo I Rana and in one of Norway's fastest growing organisations from a group of 40 to a workforce of over 1500 in two to three years.

  • Sequenced building of growing battery manufacturing units in Mo i Rana
  • Blending competence primarily from battery technology with process industry into a potent performance culture


The Plant Director in Mo I Rana will report to EVP of Operations and be member of the Operations Management Team.
The Production Managers of the Customer Qualification Plant and the Giga Factories will report to the Plant Director together with administrative functions and technical support functions

Main tasks include:

  • Develop and own the Operational Preparedness Plan for the imminent and future start-up of the battery manufacturing facilities in Mo I Rana
  • Create a team spirit with a strong ownership and will to have optimal and uninterrupted production, taking into account safety, quality, deadlines and costs
  • Ensure an overall business perspective in the strategic analysis of the production process and all other processes within the plant
  • Prepare and introduce the necessary shift models, which are adapted to the volume fluctuations
  • Coordinate the definition and review of agreed objectives for the plant
  • Ensure the development and implementation of short- and long-term projects to optimize structures and processes in terms of production, technology and personnel
  • Ensure compliance with the overall budget for the plant
  • Coordinate the maintenance, monitoring and analysis of the central indicators of the production process
  • Identify continuous improvements in operational processes (effectiveness, efficiency and quality) and ensure high plant availability in close coordination with maintenance and the company’s R&D environment
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in production and at the plants, taking into account legal requirements and company regulations
  • Translate product specifications into optimal process parameter specifications in cooperation with the company’s sales dept and R&D environment.
  • Coordinate communication within the plant management team
  • Selection of candidates for subordinate management positions
  • Take the leadership of the plant team including coordination, motivation, control and identification of the employees' development potential
  • Ensure that all rights and obligations of employee representation are respected or taken into account.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in manufacturing management roles including practical experience in both personnel and organisational development areas
  • Relevant education in engineering or other technical field of study, preferably at Masters level or above
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian
  • Strong safety and quality awareness
  • Experience with Lean Methodology
