FREYR plans to develop up to 43 GWh of battery cell production capacity by 2025 to position the company as one of Europe’s largest battery cell suppliers. The facilities will be located in the Mo i Rana industrial complex in Northern Norway, leveraging Norway’s highly skilled workforce and abundant, low-cost renewable energy sources from hydro and wind in a crisp, clear and energized environment. Corporate headquarters are located in the Oslo area.

FREYR will supply safe, high energy density and cost competitive clean battery cells to the rapidly growing global markets for electric vehicles, energy storage, and marine applications.

VP Safety, Security and Quality (SSQ)
We are looking for a candidate to lead the team responsible for corporate safety, security and quality of FREYR Battery.

FREYR Battery is going to build 5 factories in Mo i Rana in Norway over the next 4 years and will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in May this year. Our business proposition is that the world needs an energy transition to avoid climate change, that batteries are key enablers to make this transition happen over the next decades and those batteries need to change from todays’ coal-based offerings into low-carbon, sustainably produced batteries.

The person who takes on this role will be responsible for building a team, a company culture, organisational competence and a management system that secures safe operations for our people, our assets and our customers using our high-quality products.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an experienced Safety, Security and Quality leader who can build this functional expertise and deliveries critical to FREYR Battery’s business.

The candidate must have experience from working with safety and security issues in an international company with an international work force within process manufacturing operations as well as from large construction projects. Setting the strategic agenda in this area, building a corporate team as well as an organisational culture and competence in safety, security and quality, is an important experience we are looking for. The candidate needs to be a strong communicator and exert influential leadership.

As a start-up being listed on the New York Stock Exchange the company will be in the process of developing and implementing goals, standards, policies, procedures, and processes according to the business strategy over the coming years. We will have automotive industry as our customers and the quality requirements to our whole value chain – including suppliers - will be set accordingly. This role will lead this effort. Freyr Battery is planning to start operations from our pilot plan in 1H 2022 and the first Giga factory in 1H 2023.

VP Safety, Security and Quality is reporting to EVP HR, Sustainability and Communication

Main tasks include:
Develop, implement and lead;

• Our Safety, Security and Quality (SSQ) Team
• Our SSQ strategy and reporting across the value chain according to automotive industry standards
• Our management system across all functions

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

• 10 years’ experience working with corporate safety, security or management systems in international industry
• 5 years’ experience in leading teams
• Experience in leading corporate function and setting corporate strategic direction
• Experience in building or operating management systems of a company
• Minimum education at Bachelor level
• English and Norwegian language skills written and oral necessary

Advantageous:

• Experience in implementing corporate SSQ strategies in division or subsidiary would be beneficial (seen both sides of the table)
• Technical background from chemicals beneficial but not necessary

WHAT WE OFFER

Energy storage is an important key to the world's switch to a sustainable, green economy. Freyr is a frontrunner in Europe's rush to build capacity in battery production.
