Do you want to challenge yourself as a Data Analyst in one of the world's leading energy knowledge houses, applying data science and modelling techniques to develop and improve our industry-leading tools for the oil and gas upstream industry?


The Role

Rystad Energy seeks an enthusiastic and skilful data analyst with strong data science and/or algorithm development and implementation to join our Analyst Team. We are constantly improving and expanding our products within the upstream oil and gas domain, and this new role will be an integral piece of this ongoing development. The foundation of our products is a high volume of factual data combined with sophisticated in-house data management systems and forecasting tools used to model physical and market mechanisms. This Data Analyst position will be a key resource in modelling field-level oil and gas operational activity, production and economics.

The position will be located at our headquarters in Oslo.


Tasks

  • Translate client needs into technical requirements together with Product Managers and Analysts
  • Develop models and simulators using mathematical modelling of physical and economic systems while integrating factual data from research
  • Implement the models as in-house software tools that will populate commercial products with data
  • Maintain and improve the existing code base of modelling and simulation tools

 

Experience and skills

We are looking for a motivated candidate with a solid academic track record, an analytical mindset and software development skills to strengthen our capacity within in-house modelling.

  • University degree (Master or Bachelor) within engineering, information technology, mathematics, physics or similar
  • Experience with and/or a strong interest in developing numerical models/algorithms to describe processes within science, economy, markets or other process-oriented fields
  • Experience with scientific programming
  • A strong interest in developing new models from initial problem analysis to a final software system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of C# or equivalent programming languages is required
  • Experience with learning and maintaining an existing large codebase is a plus
  • Knowledge of Python programming is an advantage
  • Knowledge of database design and SQL programming is an advantage
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and image analysis is a plus
  • Proactive, independent, open-minded and creative
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, and a strong multi-tasker
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written
