Hitachi ABB Power Grids Power Grids is seeking a Lead bay level engineer for its Oslo location. This role is responsible for the bay level/secondary engineering design in a project, from specification and base design, via detail design, test and commissioning documentation and hand over to customer. Your responsibility will be to assure we deliver bay level cabinets for advanced protection, control, and communication systems. For both industrial and utility applications in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. You will work closely with the Project Manager, other bay level engineers in Norway and the Czech Republic, the customer as well as several disciplines within the engineering team. 

Technical Contribution: 
Capture and implement the technical project requirements according to Hitachi ABB Power Grids’ sales and customer specifications into the design process. Ensure technical coordination within bay level engineering activity and document control according to customers and internal timelines. Bay level/secondary electrical engineering such as preparation of electrical schematics diagrams, calculations and documentation for substation control and protection system. The work constitutes preparation of protection single line diagrams showing relays and meters, logics and interlocking documentation, review of vendor station control HW (RTU/MicroSCADA/network equipment) and interface equipment in control & relay panel scheme. Preparation of cable schedule and wiring/termination diagrams. Perform voltage drop calculation for LV AC and DC power cable. Prepare auxiliary power system design like Low Voltage AC Panel & DC Panel requirements. 

Contract Management:
Supports Project Managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Provides quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.
Planning and Control: Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.

Customer:
Assists customers on technical issues, contractors and other staff within their scope of deliverables. Prepare and coordinate technical solutions with the customer. Willingness to travel to the customer meetings.
Processes and Tools: Uses standard processes and tools applicable to one’s area of responsibility. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Reports processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests improvements ideas.

Your background:

  • Higher professional degree (fagskoleingeniør), Bachelor's Degree or Masters’ Degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • Certified electrical skilled worker (elektrofagarbeider) with relevant certificate of apprenticeship considered a benefit (Gr. L, H, A, S).
  • Experience with electrical schematic drawing tools like E3, elMaster, EPLAN etc are advantageous
  • Good written and oral communication skills in at least one of the Scandinavian languages as well as English.
  • You have good knowledge of law and regulations as well as standards for the Norwegian electrical industry and energy supply including substations
  • Experience from regional or transmission grid projects.
  • Experience with energization and troubleshooting of relay protection & control systems.
  • Proactive, self-driven, result and quality minded.
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to co-operate and communicate efficiently in both a local and a global organization.
  • Ability to work independently, structured and effective towards targets.
  • High professional integrity.
  • A person who contributes with positive energy to our good working environment.
