The U.S. Mission in Oslo is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for Local Guard.


Duties

-Monitors access to the Embassy Compound and selected Mission residence buildings.

-General guidance and assistance to visitors to the Embassy and Chief of Mission Residence.

-Operate technical security equipment such as itemizers, x-ray machines, metal detectors, communication equipment, alarm systems, camera systems and monitoring equipment.

-Conduct searches and inspection of persons, property, parcels, deliveries, vehicles.

-Respond to urgent and/or emergency situations and resolving them in a timely and appropriate manner.

-Draft and submit reports of incidents and maintains record and logs.

-Reports potential threats or other security issues to the RSO (Regional Security Office) and Local Guard Force Supervisor.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:   3 years of progressively responsible experience in the police/security/military is required


EDUCATION:   

High school diploma (upper secondary school)


LANGUAGE:  

 ENGLISH - B1 good working knowledge Speaking/Reading/Writing

(Must provide documentation)

**ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS - English can be documented with scores from upper secondary school or university or with a valid testing score.


NORWEGIAN - A2 limited Knowledge Speaking/Reading/Writing

(Must provide documentation)

**NORWEGIAN REQUIREMENTS - Norwegian can be documented with scores from a Norwegian upper secondary school (a full 3 years) or from a Norwegian University with instruction in Norwegian or exam from university. All other applicants must submit a Norsk Prøvebevis from Kompetanse Norge with your Norwegian language level test scores.



DRIVERS LICENSE: Possess a valid Class B drivers license


KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of Norwegian law enforcement and security apparatus .
