The Senior Engineer – Power Systems for Offshore Wind will be part of the Engineering Department and report directly to SVP Engineering. The position is located at Aker HQ in Fornebu, Oslo.

Candidates must already be resident in Europe and be willing to relocate to Norway to be eligible to apply.

The Role

As our Senior Engineer – Power Systems for Offshore Wind you will have the opportunity to play a key role in the industrialization of the emerging deep water offshore wind power industry. Tasks and responsibilities will lie within the early-stage development activities, all the way through to final project completion, and wind farm operation.

You will:

• have a key role and responsibility for defining the wind power plant transmission system
• cover all relevant phases from concept, detailed design fabrication, installation, and commissioning
• manage interfaces with other engineering disciplines throughout project developments across international project teams
• interact with Transmission System Owners and other stakeholders
• interface with manufactures of wind turbine generators, HVAC and HVDC power system equipment, cable suppliers etc.
• keep abreast of the latest developments for power system equipment and associated auxiliary systems
• participate in development and qualification activities together with partners, suppliers, research organizations and universities

Who are you?

You have:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering
• 7+ years of experience in renewable development projects, preferably onshore or offshore wind
• experience from work with/towards Transmission System Owners
• strong knowledge of HVAC and HVDC grid infrastructure, design principles and associated protection scheme
• knowledge of HV cable technology is considered a plus
• demonstrated skills in the use and application of grid codes and internationally acknowledged guidelines and standards
• an independent drive to continuously improve the status quo, as well as maintain close collaboration with the project team to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of projects
• a high level of flexibility and agility as well as organizational skills to enable rapid change
• excellent communication skills in English. Nordic and other languages are considered a plus
