Aker Solutions’ Controls R&D department, at Tranby Technology Center in Norway, is responsible for design and development of next-generation subsea control systems, electrical actuators, condition and performance monitoring and electrification of subsea products. The department is a spearhead within the company, developing new technologies and enabling digitalization.

Controls R&D consists of 4 discipline teams:

Product Architecture & Test
Embedded Electronics & Mechanics
Embedded Software & Configuration
Product Support & Sustaining

Our development strategy is built on state-of-the-art processes and methodology, such as agile, virtualization and test-driven development. The departments have direct access to in-house lab facilities with equipment and tools for concept development, prototyping and testing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Test Engineer to join our Product Architecture & Test team. Are you the one?

Candidates must already be resident in Norway.

Responsibilities and tasks:
As Test Engineer you will be part of our development projects, participating in the product verification activities. This includes:

Be responsible for test specifications, environment, execution and documentation
Have knowledge of key subsea technologies and their use
Be responsible for running product and system verification platforms and labs
Participate in improving the verification processes
Have knowledge of state-of-the-art verification technologies and automated testing
Collaborate with system, hardware and software development groups

Qualifications & personal attributes:

BSc in relevant engineering discipline
Minimum 2 years' experience with test design, execution and documentation for verification of systems, software or electronics
Experience from use of platforms for test automation and scripting (e.g. Python, Robot Framework)
Structured, systematic, self-driven, enthusiastic and creative, with a passion for learning and a proven record of delivering results
Ability to handle complex specifications and develop consistent solutions
Good communication skills with the ability to work in teams as well as independently
Fluent written and spoken English
Quality mindset
Experience in one or more of the following areas are required; MODbus and CANbus protocols/interfaces / Serial and analog instrument interfaces (SIIS) / Networking (Ethernet, IP, modem) / Safety critical functionality / Motor control and battery management systems
Knowledge of subsea technologies is highly valued
