About No Isolation

Everyday technology, from smartphones to computers, have helped build bridges across the world, and have brought people closer together. However this fails to capture those left behind; the elderly or those for whom modern tools aren’t specifically designed, who are also more prone to social isolation. This is felt even more acutely during the current pandemic.

No Isolation is committed to changing that through the creation of warm technology. We are looking for an App Developer (React Native) to work with our mobile applications, which operate our physical products AV1 and KOMP. The candidate will be instrumental in optimising the user experience of our nearly 50 000 app users. 

About AV1 & KOMP 

We develop, test and build prototypes of our products in house, at our Oslo office. They are assembled and distributed from our partners in Stavanger and Trondheim. 

AV1 is a telepresence robot, developed for children and young adults that are unable to physically attend school. It serves as the eyes, ears and voice of the student in the classroom, who controls it via app on their phone or tablet. AV1 was launched in 2016, and is currently in use in more than 1500 classrooms. 

KOMP is a one-button computer for seniors who didn’t grow up with technology. KOMP is simple to use, giving its user confidence and a sense of mastery. There is no need to remember passwords, use touch screens, or navigate complicated user interfaces. There are around 5000 KOMPs in use today, with more than 40 000 weekly app users. 

Core responsibilities 

As an app developer in No Isolation you will mainly be working on our mobile applications which operate our physical products AV1 and KOMP. React Native will be your main framework, but from time to time native code will be needed.

An important part of the role will be coding and maintaining the mobile app user experience end-to-end, as well as optimising code for stability and performance.

You will be a part of the Product team, working close with backend and device developers, as well as UX designers to build new features and services for our products. We have a collaborative workflow and are interested in new team members who are eager to contribute in both small and large discussions on user experience as well as the future technical infrastructure.

The Product team works closely with customer success, sales and marketing to ensure we build what our users want, and that what we build is aligned with the overall company strategies.

About you

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about our mission to reduce social isolation and love building great user experiences. You are a team player who like working in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar areas, or can document equivalent work experience in mobile (iOS/Android) app development
• is experienced building and maintaining high-performing mobile apps
• is proficient in React Native and Redux
• is skilled in implementing design with a focus on details

It would also be preferred if you have:

• experience with Objective-C, Swift or Java
• a good grasp of fundamental app design concepts
• familiarity with TypeScript
