Britannia Hotel re-opened in April 2019, following a three-year, head-to-toe renovation. The historic hotel now boasts 255 rooms and suites, six restaurants and bars, an extensive spa and state-of-the-art gym, ballroom and banquet facilities, in addition to new conference and meeting spaces.

Britannia Hotel has been granted inclusion in the exclusive group The Leading Hotels of the World, a family of some of the world's finest 5-star hotels.

We are now seeking to reinforce our position by developing even further our flagship restaurant Speilsalen, by welcoming another Sommelier to the team.
Speilsalen is hosted by World Champion Chef and Bocuse d'Or silver medalist 2017 Christopher Davidsen.
He presents a culinary journey unlike any other with a focus on perfecting the elements of surprise.

Only 10 months after opening, Speilsalen was recognized with its first Michelin star (February 2020), and we continue to work towards achieving our high goals.

We are therefore on the hunt for talented and dedicated people to join our team. Applicants should have high integrity, passion for the industry, an eye for fine details and a genuine interest in delivering on the highest level possible - to surprise and wow our guests.
As Sommelier in Speilsalen, you will be working with some of the most renowned wine personalities and best professionals in Norway.

You will be having access to one of Norway's largest wine collections, giving you the opportunity to create unique wine packages and combos.  

Staff at Speilsalen must be able to identify the needs of our guests before they arise and solve all challenges with a smile. We are seeking candidates who have propensity for 5-star service; friendly, naturally motivated, professional and inspired by the work. Britannia Hotel has 150-years' of experience in hospitality - a proud heritage which will be instrumental in your interactions with all guests, new and returning.

Britannia Hotel first opened its doors to its glamorous guests in 1870. It soon became a popular establishment with international renown. A bustling environment in magnificent surroundings, the hotel was a prestigious meeting point for everyone from traders to politicians to salmon tourists. To this day it remains a cornerstone of Trondheim society and one of Scandinavia's most prominent hotels.

The city's proud 'White Swan' - known in some quarters as the world's most northerly Grande Dame hotel - was redefined last year, with the completion of the most extensive hotel renovation in Scandinavian history. The project was the realization of owner Odd Reitan's boyhood dream, to one day purchase the hotel and give Trondheim a luxury establishment it can be proud of. Reitan was simultaneously inspired by the heritage of the hotel, which he had witnessed as a 15-year old boy, and driven to recreate the space as a modern-classic, with international acclaim.

Within a year of opening, Britannia has been recognized by international editors as "one of the world's best hotels", recorded historic high scores on hotel websites and featured prominently on several international lists of best places to stay and eat. Christopher Davidsen's first signature restaurant Speilsalen at Britannia, was recently rewarded with its first Michelin star. These achievements are shared by all of Britannia's 300+ employees, and by the people of Trondheim, who can feel proud of being associated with such a success story.

Britannia hotel first opened its doors for its glamorous guests in 1870 and was a vibrant place in its splendour - a unique gathering point for the people of Trondheim, where the latest news and trends were shared among prominent guests from abroad and local residents. From merchants and politicians to pioneering travelers fishing the magical Salmon runs of Trøndelag, Britannia has been their meeting house. A cornerstone of Trondheim, and one of Scandinavia's most prominent hotels.

Britannia Hotel's extensive renovation is one of the largest hospitality refurbishments ever undertaken in Scandinavia. The hotel will once again be the place for celebrations and special occasions; reopening as a classical-modern, internationally-inspired five-star hotel and house of restaurants.

When we now open our doors in 2019, after a 1.2 Billion NOK refurbishment, it is with great humility that we have taken on the task of building the hotel for the 21st century while keeping our heritage and history close. Our new owner Odd Reitan has since his childhood dreamed about Britannia  - and his vision of re-building one of Norway and Scandinavia's best hotels is to again make it a place that serves and collects stories for the next 100 years.

Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, Norway becomes the fifth member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Scandinavia.

Leading Hotels of the World is a collection of over 375 member hotels in 75 countries around the world. Almost all of them are individual and family led hotels. Only the finest five star hotels can apply to become a member of Leading Hotels. Each new hotel has to follow a set of 800 quality standards. The hotels are tested secretly every year to make sure that the hotel and its services are on the highest level.
