As Head of the Humanitarian Division, you will embark on one of the most exciting positions in the humanitarian sector in Norway, in one of the most exciting humanitarian organizations in Norway. With our strong international network through the ACT Alliance, you will have the ability to influence humanitarian results on a truly global arena. You will collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders within NCA in order to make our responses even more effective than they are today.

You, as a successful candidate for this position, understand all phases of a humanitarian response, while at the same time have experience leading a multinational staff of experts. You have the ability to set forth strategy and direction, often in a scenario where time is of the essence, that the division as well as the entire organization can understand and implement. You are a proactive leader who motivates employees within a professional environment and can implement the organization's strategic efforts.

As Head of Division, you have overall responsibility to lead the development of NCA’s humanitarian strategy and action plans for the humanitarian division, as well as line management responsibility for a group of skilled, committed and professional staff.

Job description

  • Manage and lead our staff in the humanitarian division and ensure preparedness for and timely humanitarian response to large-scale sudden onset emergency responses.
  • Work with other Head of Divisions in order to advance the overall goals of NCA and the Department of International Programmes.
  • Strategically follow up the Cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within NCA’s thematic areas as well as reporting to outside stakeholders.
  • Expand our efforts is building donor relations as well as networking on relevant advocacy arenas.
  • Overall responsible for allocating resources to support to the building of humanitarian programs in NCA country offices.
  • Lead on NCA’s humanitarian engagement within the ACT Alliance, and strengthen collaboration with sister agencies and other relevant agencies.

Qualifications

  • Relevant higher university degree.
  • Proven management experience working with humanitarian settings in the field as well as at head office.
  • Demonstrated experience of successful leadership and team building in humanitarian environments.
  • Experience from working with humanitarian policy on global arenas is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Norwegian and English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience from multi-religious or multicultural work is an advantage.
