Work Description:

  • Performs both independent complex and advanced geoscience analysis and is an active Advisor to both work teams and management on challenging problems. Broadly recognized as a key source of knowledge and experience by the larger subsurface community. Provides Advise on matters of strategic importance. 
  • Tasks may include the following (as IV)
  • Develop play models through the integration of regional seismic interpretation, structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, petroleum systems analysis, basin modelling, reservoir characterization and play fairway analysis
  • Generate new ideas and mature these to be added to the company’s Exploration prospect portfolio through well data analysis and seismic interpretation
  • Mature opportunities into drillable prospects 
  • Perform risk assessment and hydrocarbon resource calculations for each opportunity
  • Drive each opportunity through a consistent QC process with the peer review team
  • Keep abreast of new developments in geosciences technology and explore possible applications to exploration and development opportunities 
  • Work with drilling on planning and designing exploration well paths
  • Undertake risk assessment and hydrocarbon resource calculations for each opportunity
  • Assist in the screening and assessment of business development opportunities as required 
  • Provide technical advice, input and supervision for the company’s technical teams
  • Contribute in formulating short- and long-range exploration plan
  • Contribute to budget preparation of assigned area

Qualification Requirements:

  • To maintain a sustainable growth, it is crucial replace reserves that have been produced
  • Strong understanding of exploration value creation
  • Advanced 2D and 3D interpretation
  • Advanced sequence stratigraphy and well correlations
  • Prospect evaluation and maturation
  • Probabilistic volume assessment and risking
  • Capacity in project management
  • Experience in the supervision of interdisciplinary teams within the industry
  • Experience and capacity to manage contractors and third-party projects and products
  • Good knowledge of other disciplines (drilling, reservoir engineering, economics, facilities)
  • Knowledge of regulatory rules and regulations; good working knowledge of safety program and initiatives
  • 10 + years experience
  • Advanced user of Petrel, GeoX and Microsoft Office tools
