Job description

Renewable energy is an important part of the sustainable society in the future. Statkraft District Heating has operated in this market since 1982. We have business in 13 different cities across Norway and Sweden with totally 130 employees.

District heating is a flexible and waterborne heating system that utilizes surplus renewable energy from local sources such as bio fuel, waste and industry heat waste. This ensures that we make use of resources that would otherwise be wasted. District heating is therefore an important contribution in the transition to a more circular economy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. District heating can also help free up capacity in the electric grid and continues to be used as a renewable replacement for fossil fuels in construction and industry.

The department Project and Technology is responsible for developing and executing projects to connect new customers to existing distribution net and larger investment projects in connection to our district heating assets.

Your role

We are looking for a trainee to strengthen our team in Norway, who wants to kick start their career in Project management with focus on district heating and urban energy.

The position will be located at the Statkraft office in Trondheim and the trainee will report to the leader of the project team.

After the training period you will contribute and be responsible for tasks such as:

• Assist in developing, planning and execute new customer connection projects and follow up own portfolio of projects
• Contribute in site management to follow up project progress and performance
• Assist in project control and administration to support different projects (project control, document management, project and collaboration tools, risk management etc.)
• Assist in project handover and reporting

The role is dynamic and offers an exceptional opportunity to learn the different roles and responsibilities to develop and execute projects in Norway and Sweden within District heating technology.

Your profile

• University or master's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, energy) or other (economics, management, law, information technology) with outstanding results and ambitions
• Ability to connect technical and economic aspects of project execution with analytical skills and commercial sense
• Result and self-driven team player with very good communications skills across the organisation
• You act in a responsible, competent and innovative manner
• You are fluent in English language. Other language (Scandinavian) will be an advantage but not a requirement
• Flexibility regarding tasks and working location

About the International Trainee Programme

The objective of the programme is to develop young talents in the best way possible, and provide insight into our entire operations and value chain. It is a one-year programme with three different work rotations of four months, of which at least one will be abroad. The programme is tailored to the trainees background and the units competence needs. As a trainee you will attend regular courses and social gatherings where the trainee group meets to acquire new skills and share experiences. Upon completion of the programme you are offered a permanent position in the department where you will continue to work in a new position.
