Senior Associate Green Infrastructure - Oslo

Norfund is expanding the investment portfolio to include waste management and water industries (“Green Infrastructure”), primarily in Sub Saharan Africa and potentially selected countries in South East Asia and Central America. Investing in these industries contributes to sustainable growth of cities and towns, reduces adverse environmental impacts and improves people’s standard of living. Our ambition is to establish lasting partnerships with commercial industrial actors, and to make 6-10 investments in these industries by 2022. We are looking for an Associate to join our team in Oslo to work with building Norfund’s portfolio, primarily focused on equity investments, in these industries. The successful candidate should have relevant experience from infrastructure investments, preferably in the targeted industries and countries, and hold requisite qualifications. The person employed will report to Investment Director Green Infrastructure.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Build and execute pipeline in accordance with the strategy for Green Infrastructure
• Appraisal of investment proposals, with emphasis on profitability, risks and risk mitigation
• Due diligence processes, structuring and negotiation of investments
• Presentation of investment cases to Investment Committee
• Management of the resulting portfolio of investments
• Valuation and risk analysis
• Planning and execution of exits

Specific qualifications for this position:

• Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent with a strong academic record
• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of business development, infrastructure and investments/finance
• Experience in water supply or waste management is especially advantageous
• Work experience from Africa, Latin America or Asia is an advantage

• Results oriented and with a structured, proactive and efficient work style
• Proven track record of effective project management
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written) in English and Norwegian
• Flexible and willing to travel extensively
• Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to achieve results through collaborative and constructive engagement with investment teams and portfolio companies
• Strong analytical skills
