The Primary Metal business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and has around 5 000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle, and supply our customers with casthouse products. 

The Årdal Metal Plant has about 535 employees, and consists of two production sites. Anodes are produced in Årdalstangen, and in Øvre Årdal the electrolysis potlines and casthouses are located. Our products are used in a vast number of applications around the world, such as automotive industry and construction industry.

Our Graduate positions give considerable knowledge about the?aluminium?business and are essential for developing new leaders and professionals in Hydro.

Area of responsibility

As part of the Project and Maintenance team, you will be responsible for developing projects and other relevant tasks. You will also contribute to implementing and running relevant elements of Industry 4.0 in production units.

Some key tasks: 

  • Get to know our Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) from theory to practice
  • Be a part of the local AMBS work and participate in the Norwegian AMBS network
  • Develop and implement systems for big data capture and analytics?
  • Develop suitable solutions to enable condition monitoring of equipment and processes? 
  • Plan, execute and lead projects? 
  • Enhance performance of existing machinery and maintenance systems? 
  • Develop analytic tools to optimize production and maintenance processes? 
  • Take part in optimization initiatives? 
  • Communicate with stakeholders?

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree within Mechanical Engineering, Cybernetics & Robotics, Industrial Economics and Technology Management or similar 
  • Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation 
  • Good academic results and  analytical skills 
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian 
  • Commitment to protecting health, safety, security and environment (HSE) through your attitude and actions  
  • Understanding principles and tools for continuous improvement
