The Corporate Affairs and Global Initiatives team is part of Yara’s Strategy & Business Development department. It plays an instrumental role in ensuring a holistic vision and direction globally for the company on sustainability, positioning on external arenas and government and NGO relations. The team serves as an important advisor to the CEO and senior management on government relations, regulatory processes, multilateral solutions and engagement with non-governmental organizations. It works in close collaboration with the other corporate functions and business areas to leverage the full breath of the internal expertise.

The VP, Corporate Affairs & Global Initiatives position will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals that work in a global and high paced environment. The position will work both on a strategic level as well as oversee the day to day government and regulatory efforts.

The position will be based in one of our European locations and will report to EVP Strategy and Communication.

Main responsibilities

  • Shape and form Yara’s engagement strategy with national governments, regional bodies and multilateral institutions
  • Coordinate policy processes and facilitate work in relation to regulatory authorities
  • Develop organizational capabilities and coach line management in political relationship building
  • Define and lead on Yara’s strategic EU agenda
  • Raise the profile with key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in Norway
  • Elevate Yara’s position as a purpose driven company and a sector leader on sustainability
  • Leverage international arenas to strengthen Yara’s position and network with other value chain players (e.g. WEF, WBCSD)
  • Support in building evidence in relation to new business models and on economic, social and environmental impact in close collaboration with units like Farming Solutions
  • Internalize SDGs and relevant international sustainability standards



  • Master’s degree in political science, International relations, Public Relations or similar
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior stakeholder management and managing external relations in a global and local context
  • Extensive knowledge in sustainable development, driving and establishing public-private strategic partnership and managing government relations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Extensive personal network externally
  • Advanced understanding of how political regulations affect Yara’s global business short and long term
  • Strong strategic capabilities
