We are looking for a highly motivated and competent
Vice President for our investment department Financial Institutions.
The role is new within the department and is part of the Extended Management Team in Norfund. The role will lead a team of seven employees whereas five are based in Oslo, and two are based in Nairobi, Kenya. The position reports to Norfund’s Executive Vice President – Financial Institutions. We believe that the right candidate has experience from similar leadership positions within sectors such as private equity, finance and/or the banking sector.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Building and maintaining the FI investment portfolio in Sub-Saharan Africa including both equity and debt as well as fund investments, but excluding platform investment (Arise)
- Overseeing the entire investment process from deal identification, execution of transactions, portfolio management and exit
- Having a compliance role across the FI department (Africa, Asia, Latin America), by being responsible for cross-departmental operational risk including ensuring adherence to policies and investment guidelines as well as a common approach to FI portfolio monitoring
Specific qualifications for this position:
- Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent with a strong academic record
- 10+ years relevant job experience primarily from the financial/investment sector
- Management experience from a commercial bank or similar
- International experience, ideally including developing countries
- Demonstrated leadership skills ideally having managed an intercultural team
- Excellent communication skills in English, good understanding of Norwegian
- Result oriented and a structured and efficient work style
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
