DEPARTMENT OF TUMOR BIOLOGY and DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR CELL BIOLOGY are two of seven departments at Institute for Cancer Research. We are focusing on basic and translational cancer research. Our expertise is spanning from studies of cellular uptake mechanisms and intracellular transport (the Sandvig group) to testing novel cancer therapies and drug delivery approaches in experimental model systems (the Mælandsmo group). The two groups have collaborated closely in projects where nanoparticles are used as drug delivery vehicles.
Description
The position is available for two years and is financed through funds from the Norwegian Cancer Society (to prof Sandvig). Nanoparticles can specifically be targeted to cancer cells through diverse mechanisms and in the current projects physical targeting by ultrasound and biological targeting through folate interactions will be investigated. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for studies on uptake mechanisms using cell cultures, as well as evaluation of biodistribution, toxicity and treatment efficacy in experimental mouse models. Thus, the successful candidate should have experience in work with laboratory animals.Qualifications
