Spacecraft Engineer, Satellite Operation

Responsibilities:
The Spacecraft Engineer ? shall develop operational procedures and oversee the health of the Thor satellites systems.

The Spacecraft Engineer ? shall also support other technical areas within the Satellite Operations department, e.g. flight dynamics/orbital mechanics, satellite platforms with associated sub-systems or ground control systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education from university or equivalent with Bachelor or Master Degree in Spacecraft/Aerospace, Satellite operations/communication, Applied Physics or Electronics.
  • 3-5 years of experience with communication satellites, or other relevant experience from satellite engineering or orbital mechanics. Newly graduated engineers will be considered if academic curriculum is particularly relevant.
  • Knowledge of geostationary satellite platforms.
  • Programming skills an advantage.
  • Norwegian an advantage, both spoken and written English is essential. 
  • It will be advantageous to have experience from technical 24/7 operational environments.

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor spacecraft health, performing routine trend analysis of the Thor satellite subsystems.
  • Generate health reports as required based on trend analysis data.
  • Follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) providing expert technical support to the satellite controller team conducting real time satellite operations.
  • Develop, maintain and validate scripts and procedures for mission operations.
  • Liaise with spacecraft manufacturers to resolve possible problems and optimize satellite performance.
  • Understand Ground/Spacecraft capabilities, limitations, and operating modes.
  • Support satellite procurement projects as required.
  • Travel may occasionally be required for short periods.

  • Team player - Work for the good of the team.
