Helse Bergen HF, Haukeland University Hospital employs about 12.000 people and almost 600.000 patients are being treated annually. Research is a core activity. The Department of Research and Development pays a pivotal role in strategic development of the hospital research e-Infrastructure / Infrastructure and for facilitating research data handling solutions particularly in large projects across departments and/or institutions in the health region.
Over the past years, the hospital everyday clinical patient follow-up and even more so, the hospital's research activities have been part of a digital transformation. We see clear benefits of scalable digital platforms for data storage and processing, combined with real-time analytics. To boost this development, we call for a core position within our department: A full-time (100%) position as Senior Advisor in Computational Medicine.
Tasks
- Close interaction with clinicians and scientists in different research groups and centres in the hospital.
- Contribute in the development of pipelines for data flow of medical research data, data from medical registries, from low-level integration of system interfaces to facilitate high-level advanced data processing in the field of computational medicine/ data science.
- Overview of scalable digital platforms for data storage and processing for research.
- Evaluate, contribute to the development, facilitate establishment, of new solutions in collaboration with the units responsible for the clinical hospital e-Infrastructures. Technical and analysis solutions for medical research data must be as closely integrated with the clinical systems as possible to minimize efforts related to organization, integration, technical support, risk-associations.
- Contribute to facilitating distribution of solutions within the health region to facilitate collaboration across hospitals and research environments.
Qualifications
- PhD in physics, computer science, statistics or related fields. Documentation of submitted/ approved PhD must be part of the application.
- Very good programming skills in R, Python, C/C , shell scripting are essential.
- Prior experience with setting up analysis platforms and standardizing of data processing pipelines is an advantage, preferably also being familiar with medical data handling standards such as DICOM, eCRF framework and data transfer protocols.
- Experience from deep learning or other data science approaches is considered beneficial.
- Experience with writing manuscripts and successful grant applications will be considered beneficial.
- Strong written and oral skills in Norwegian and in English.
