Norwegian Hull Club is seeking a highly structured Senior Surveyor with excellent communication skills to strengthen its Claims Department. As a Senior Surveyor at The Club, you will be part of a dedicated and dynamic team of specialists serving the global maritime industry. The successful applicant will be based at The Club's main office in Bergen, Norway.


Role description:
1) Survey / Technical Knowledge:

The successful applicant will be required to:

. Provide technical knowledge and competence at Norwegian Hull Club 
. Ensure technical support / consultancy is available, primarily to claims handlers but also to underwriters and the assured
. Conduct or assist with surveys and survey reporting, co-operate with the assigned claims handler and adjuster and/or the appointed surveyor and specialist
. Assist owners, surveyors and claims handlers with Norwegian Hull Club's Owners Statement of Claim
. Assist in Loss of Hire cases; actively contribute to reducing the duration of repairs
. Contribute with knowledge sharing / experience transfer (technical loss prevention)

2) Specification and Tendering

. Prepare / produce damage specification and participate in the tendering process for significant damages 
. Provide assistance with general condition of tendering and contract proposals 
. Participate in invoice negotiations at the completion of repairs

3) Survey Network and Specialists

. Evaluate and develop The Club's network of surveyors and specialists

4) Projects

. As part of the Claims Department in Norwegian Hull Club, you will participate in the continuous development of the company's services and products, including digital advancements 

Your background: 
In order to provide first-class support to the Claims Department, as well as being an ambassador for The Club when meeting a diverse range of external parties (such as the assured, brokers, engine makers and repairers, shipyards, class surveyors etc.), we seek a technically competent person with excellent interpersonal skills and solid, relevant experience who has mastered the art of survey reporting.

Our ideal candidate has:

. Solid practical experience from the shipping / off-shore industry
. Attained a good standard of relevant, technical education
. Experience with international marine insurance
. The ability to rapidly understand clients' needs and provide support
. An analytic and structured mind with the ability and confidence to make key decisions 
. Competence with IT tools, while being eager to use new technology in order to further develop The Club's activity
. Excellent interpersonal skills
. A strong command of English, both verbal and written. Note that a willingness to learn Norwegian (if this is not your mother tongue) will be considered an advantage 
. An open, transparent and trustworthy communication style 
. A positive attitude, as well as being proactive and personable
. A team-player approach but can work independently when required
Please note that this position is likely to involve significant periods of travel.
