Power Market Analysts (two positions) - Strategic Market Analysis

This is an exciting period to join Statkraft. The power industry is being transformed through the rapid rise of renewable generation and Statkraft is pursuing a growth strategy by expanding as an onshore wind and solar developer, optimising flexible hydropower and developing our market operations.  

The Strategic Market Analysis Team is the unit that is responsible for Statkrafts long term view of the development of power markets within which it operates. This includes developing a long-term view of power prices and high-quality insights to support business strategy and commercial processes. The Strategic Market Analysis Team is split into three regional areas: Nordics; Europe; Emerging Markets. We are recruiting two analysts to focus on the Nordic or European markets. 

Your role: 

The purpose of this role is to perform and update Statkrafts long term power market analysis (qualitative and quantitative) in a specific geography and/or issue. This includes: 

• Closely monitoring energy and power market development, identifying market trends, undertaking power market modelling, interpreting results and drawing out strategic implications 

• Preparing background papers and presentations to support internal decision-making processes (valuation, impairment, strategy processes) 

• Lead on upgrading and developing current analytical methods and deliveries 
  
  
• Taking part in cross-Statkraft strategy and commercial processes relevant to the specific market 

Your profile: 

• Masters degree in science, economics, engineering or similar with good results 
• Relevant work experience in power market analysis 
• Experience with power market modelling tools 
• Coding skills (Python or similar) 
• Highly structured, analytical, thorough and result oriented 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including slide production and  written memoranda. Proficiency in at least one other European language is an advantage
• Strong personal integrity and high ethical standards

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation. The position will be located at the head office at Lilleaker. Some travel will be required.
