Role Summary:

GE Renewable Hydro is one of the mayor suppliers of Hydropower equipment such as Generators, Turbines, control systems and related services, in the Nordics and World-wide.

The purpose of the Plant support Project Manager is to manage one more Hydropower Generator or Turbine service projects, as well as being a point of contact for the client for day-to-day requests of transactional service sales.


Essential Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Project Manager is to manage the project through all phases from Bid negotiation to commissioning. This includes proposal of technical solutions to client, project cost follow up, sub supplier management, quality, EHS, QA/QC and field service operations in cooperation with the responsible functions.

The role is a key position, in the Nordic organization, and a great opportunity for the right candidate.

This role has a focus on Nordic market, so the ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge about Nordic Hydropower service and retrofit market.

The position reports to General Manager of GE Renewable Norway AS.

  • Manage the preparation of the technical offer of small and larger Plant Support Services tenders in order to optimize the competitiveness of our offer, in liaison with Operations and/or Technical Services specialists located in other zones: condition assessment, specification, industrial scheme, costing.
  • Secure that project targets/KPI’s, according to baseline/project charter is met.
  • Support the Plant support PM’s across projects and be an alternative the “go-to” point for all customers across project portfolio.
  • Manage all matters of the Plant Support Service project in order to optimize quality, cost and lead time in liaison with Operations and/or Technical Services specialists, such as engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, site preparation, risk and opportunities
  • Support Sales for technical matters in front of the Client and Contractors
  • Support the other Technical Service’s zones for own area of expertise at the request of the Technical Services Director

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree qualification in Engineering, or technical high school is preferred. Extensive and broad experience can substitute for academic qualifications or equivalent knowledge or experience.
  • Proven commercial experience with Hydropower thermal or wind projects or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and execution for hydropower power plant projects, including an understanding of construction and operational issues associated with these types of projects.
  • Ability to take the lead in negotiations, leverage contractual terms knowledge and understanding of relevant technical issues, deploy effective problem-solving skills and exercise sound commercial initiative and judgement.
  • Highly motivated team player, self-starter with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful hydropower project execution.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a non-hierarchical, team type environment
  • Ability to travel as required domestically with some international travel
  • Fluency in Norwegian/Swedish, English. Reading and writing.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in Hydropower service projects in the Nordic region is highly appreciated.
