JOB PURPOSE:

  • The Firmware Design Engineer will be part of an international team that works in providing advance solutions in Sony Semiconductor Solutions Image Sensors and similar specialty state-of-the-art products. This position will involve in development of firmware for Sony CMOS image sensors, including evaluations and calibrations, in managing basic functions of Sony CMOS image sensors for pixel array readout, signal processing blocks for noise reduction and colour correction. Development of image processing algorithm is a key responsibility to provide enhanced products to customers.
  • The Firmware Design Engineer will need to work closely with the analogue and digital design teams in Oslo and other teams in Japan.
  • Whilst the role has strong requirement to follow ABD’s standard processes, it has liberty in developing new technology assets as well as amending the existing technology at the time of type development. New applications, R&D activities, investigation, technology analysis and benchmarking are empowered to this position, and ABD believes that such autonomous activities will flourish the mutual goals therefore encourage them.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in computer science, information technologies, electronic engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M based microcontroller firmware development.
  • Knowledge of programming techniques and languages in C, Python, Matlab, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Image processing/DSP.
  • Familiar with using of logic analyser, oscilloscope, or other test equipment used for development.
  • Familiar with digital design flow, including RTL coding/simulation is an advantage.
  • Ability to define and describe complex systems through illustrations and explanations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • English speaking and preferred additional languages such as Japanese.
  • Experience:
  • Significant experience in software/firmware design
  • Experience in evaluation and calibration methods.
  • Experience in working with diverse and cross functional team
