About the Position

Due to increased activity in the summer months, we are looking for several Junior Ship Agents and Logistics Coordinators for temporary positions at our offices in downtown Stavanger. You will be assisting the Stavanger team to prepare for and run operations during the busy summer months, starting as soon as possible and lasting until at least September. We are also looking to possibly hiring 1-2 in a permanent position after the season. Due to the temporary nature of the positions to cover high activity in the summer, it will not be possible to take extended vacations during the period of employment. Shorter absences may be granted upon application.

These are entry level roles and you will be learning the many aspects of the position while working side-by-side with experienced mentors as well as other Juniors that started with you. Training is provided to help you achieve operational independence, and you will be supporting operations early on.

These positions are open to anyone who is sensitive to internal and external customer needs and is excited by the idea of applying this passion in an international, diverse, and inclusive environment. This opportunity is thus also available for you who are interested in the industry but have no formal experience. It is also open for you who has years of experience and wants now to take on new challenges in a company that values your competency.

Daily Tasks

After adequate training, you will support operations and company strategy while performing the following tasks:

  • Documentation and clearance of ships upon arrival and departure
  • Communication with all involved parties during ships’ port calls
  • Coordinating with colleagues, suppliers, and customers by phone and email
  • Cooperating with colleagues at all levels of the organization to provide quality service
  • Planning and following up on your tasks
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks such as invoicing for services provided

Other Job details

  • We provide 24/7 service, and there will be periods of higher workload as well as work during irregular times
  • Due to the 24/7 service, you will participate in a rotating duty scheme in which you, when on duty, will have primary responsibility to follow operational email and phones during after work hours and weekends
  • These positions provide a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of colleagues in the maritime industry in a company that values what each unique individual brings to the table
  • Candidates with relevant and non-relevant experience who want to learn a new skill are also welcomed to apply

Desired Qualifications

  • Genuine interest in solving problems for customers and colleagues
  • Genuine interest in learning more about shipping and related industries
  • Good general geographical knowledge of the Norwegian coast
  • Excellent written and verbal Norwegian and English skills
  • Comfortable using data as a work tool – with competency using Microsoft Office

Competencies

  • Exhibits motivation and takes initiative to achieve results
  • Uses structure and organization skills for greater efficiency
  • Problem solving approach to new challenges
  • Passion for providing great service to customers and helping colleagues do the same
  • Proficient communication skills

We offer

  • An open, inclusive, trust-based, and flexible workplace culture
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development
  • To be a part of a globally recognized shipping and logistics company
  • Fair and equitable salary
  • The knowledge that you are working for a Eco-Lighthouse (Miljørfyrtårn) certified company that values sustainability in all that we do
