For our client ABB we are looking for a Discipline Lead Automation for an assignment in Singapore. 
Duration: 1 year. 

Main Tasks:
1. Technical contribution
Coordinates engineering discipline across several projects
Provides technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities
Designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interprets data
Prepares complete project documents in one’s area of responsibility
Serves as a specialist in application of advanced concepts and methods

2. Sales support
Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc)

3. Contract management
Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.)
Provides cost effective quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract
Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks

4. Planning and control
Creates work plans and cost estimates in one’s area of responsibility
Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost
Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions

5. Risk and opportunity management
Completes risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions in one’s area of responsibility
Reports any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution

6. Customer
Interacts with customers, officials, contractors and others
Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments

7. Supply chain management
Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers
Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services

8. Technical leadership and knowledge sharing
Maintains network of engineering professionals and shares engineering best practice across different projects and disciplines

9. Processes and tools
Develops, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and tools
Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements
Reports processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests ideas for improvements

10. People leadership and development
Coaches, provides support and technical advice to colleagues
Assigns tasks for and directs engineers, technicians and administrative staff
May functionally lead a small team

Qualifications:
Norwegian & English; fluent written and spoken


Requirements:

  • Must be familiar with relevant codes international standards, client Design Specifications and procedures, and have a thorough working knowledge of the latest design and analytical techniques.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (B.Sc/ M.Sc/ B.Eng)
  • Should have over 15 years of post-graduate experience, with 8 years in the oil & gas and or Hydrocarbons industry.
  • Project engineering experience with an EPC contractor
  • Provide high level direction to the I&C team.
  • Provide technical support to designers and engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the project teams and clients.
  • Maintain a strategic approach to project delivery.
  • Review Vendor Documents
  • Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of I&C
  • Prepare I&C Equipment Specifications, Data Sheets, Purchase Requisitions and Bid evaluations for control equipment as required.
  • Work with I&C engineers, technologists and designers to provide I&C design and deliverables
  • Perform I&C Design duties associated with project scope of work
  • Review Loop, Wiring diagrams
  • Excellent knowledge of SPI for the development of E&I engineering deliverables.
  • Excellent knowledge of control systems and shutdown PLC hardware and software design.
  • Interpret 3D and 2D design deliverables
  • Knowledge and Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Site / vendor inspections and testing
  • Be flexible with the ability to manage change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment
  • Good organizational skills, writing skills, presentation and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision and still meet commitment deadlines
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adjust priorities quickly
  • Accountable for the quality of deliverables in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities
  • Good English communication knowledge in writing and verbal.
