We are looking for a Youth Economic Empowerment Advisor to join our team in the fight for children’s rights and equality for girls - creating sustainable jobs connected to functional markets.

You will join our Program and Influencing team in Oslo that consist of 13 engaged and professional colleagues. The department is responsible for the execution, follow-up and development of Plan International Norway’s development and humanitarian portfolio in cooperation with prioritized country offices, partners and donors.

This position is Plan International Norway’s expert in technical dialogue with institutional donors and corporate partners.

Main Responsibilities of the position

  • Provide expertise and guidance within Youth Economic Empowerment.
  • Leading in identification, conceptualization, project development and initiation of new opportunities and projects/programmes in line with Plan International's program quality standards.
  • Support in follow-up of narrative and financial reporting 
  • Actively engage in partnership building with assigned Country Offices and Regional Offices, including in the development of Country Strategic Plans and Regional Strategic Plans when needed.
  • Contribute to capacity building in the thematic area in the Oslo office as well as across the Plan International Federation.
  • Participate in global processes within given thematic area when required
  • Provide thematic program support and quality assurance throughout the program/project cycle in close co-operation and co-ordination with Program Managers, also at field level when required.
  • Contribute to the mobilization of political and financial support through advocacy efforts and resource mobilization, including concept and funding proposal development.
  • Responsible to advocate for political or thematic issues within area of expertise relevant for the strategy.

Do you have the following profile?

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience, out of which 5 years in job creation, connecting human resources and functional markets relevant to the context. Preferably also field experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the given thematic sector, with a demonstrated ability to apply theory into practice relevant to the context.
  • Demonstrable problem solving ability and ability to make principled but ethical decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of current development discourse relevant to this sector.
  • Innovative and creative approach to developing and supporting projects/programmes.
  • Excellent skills in proposal writing, programme design, results documentation and reporting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Norwegian and/or French is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions to reach own and team goals
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Eager to learning new ways of working to maintain relevant and up to date on trends
