Are you an Embedded Software Developer (2 years` + experience) who thrives working with other engineers with a dry sense of humour? Do you enjoy solving the insolvable? Are you eager to tackle new tasks and confident in developing simple, elegant, tested and maintainable solutions?

Then we would be very keen to hear from you. Come join the team and work with engineers who appreciate a bad pun and well written software.

We as the embedded team are...

A group of engineers with really dry humour who appreciate bad puns and well written software. We’re working in an agile way using modern tools. Continuous integration with docker based build environments are not just a thing for cloud software... Give us an impossible task to solve and we’ll happily solve it for you. “How hard can it be?”

You will...

As an Embedded Software Developer, you will, together with the team, bring our solutions to a new level. Embedded Software is at the heart of what we do, and we need to stay in the forefront of it, thus creating the best low power and robust embedded sensor solutions. Part of the role involves specifying communication protocols, maintaining the software libraries for these protocols as well as working closely with App and Cloud Developers. Additionally, you will be owning part of the system, helping to set the HW for the next platform and helping to define wireless sensor networks.

Most importantly; Do you have any areas of special competence and/or interests? Well why not be doing some of this too.

To name a few technologies in use: Code composer studio, C & Python, Arm Cortex-M processors, FreeRTOS, STM32, mbedTLS, LWIP, Docker, BLE Communications and Proprietary Sub1 GHz radio protocol.

You get...

Well, we do think our dry and nerdy humour is something positive, and we love well written software. We work in a modern and independent manner and as the team evolves, we aim to create new processes and use the newest in technology. Additionally, you will get exposure to the cloud and work towards our target of automating most of our tedious tasks. And finally, you will be working on a product and solutions that was one of two Norwegian companies’ products listed in The Times Best Inventions 2019.

Airthings is a fun filled place to work with significant focus on the social aspects. We believe that our staff are the key to a successful future thus we invest heavily in making sure everyone can contribute and people enjoy themselves. We believe we offer you the chance to work for a company that is going places and who not only want to grow but to grow ‘huge’.

Other positives:

  • Excellent salary and benefits including stock options and company KPI bonus
  • Flexible working hours and 100% parental and sick leave
  • Hackathons
  • One of the best canteens in Oslo (we think so)
  • Friday sweets and other fun, salary beers and social trips every year
  • Training and conferences abroad
  • Revenue increased YOY
  • Moving more and more from Hardware to Software
  • We simply have a lot of fun

You are...

It is important that you are fluent in C and ideally have some familiarity with Python scripting. You have a good understanding of software architecture and experience with embedded peripherals: I2C, SPI and similar. Other than that, it would also be good if you have experience from communication protocols (Ethernet or similar) and 2 years + of relevant domain experience. It would be a huge benefit if you have experience with wireless communication and protocol stacks, although this is not essential.

As a person you love solving complex challenges, enjoy working with other highly competent developers and you are eager to tackle new tasks and confident in developing simple, elegant, tested and maintainable solutions.
