For our client we are looking for a Lead Project Engineer

Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension
Location: Asker

Introduction: 

Project engineers are allocated to major subsea system projects to ensure that all requirements of the customer specifications are met and that the whole subsea infrastructure operates as a system.  Two disciplines of Project engineer are generally required for a major project, a Controls engineer and an Oil Tools engineer.  Between the two disciplines the full requirements of the project from a system perspective will be covered.  Project engineers will be allocated to a project from concept through to the first phase of installation as a minimum. The project engineers will work with the technical manager for the particular project; who will give them daily direction.

The Lead Project Engineer would perform the same functions as a project engineer (as identified below under responsibilities); as required.  But the Lead Project Engineer also undertakes a more responsible role of managing and mentoring the project engineers to assist the technical manager in achieving the required outcome of project completion; to Client requirements, within the agreed timeframe and within budget.
The Lead Project Engineer is expected to deputize for the technical manager whenever the need arises.


Responsibilities:

1. Working in conjunction with the technical manager and the other project team members; the project engineer will be responsible for ensuring the components that comprise the subsea system function together to meet the system requirements. Typical components include: Subsea Trees, Tubing Hangers and Related Running Tools, Manifolds, Valves, Foundation Structures, Jumpers, Connectors, Installation and workover Intervention Systems. The project engineer will work closely with the individual package engineers and Aftermarket Services.

2. External Interfaces
a. Work in close harmony with the External Interface engineer, for the particular subsea project, to ensure that all external interfaces are identified, considered and duly closed out.

3. Internal Interfaces
a. Coordinate with the Internal Interface engineer to ensure all internal interfaces are identified and properly managed.

4. Design Basis Memorandum
a. Responsible for the preparation and generation of, or input to; the Design Basis Memorandum.
b. Review and critique Functional Design Specifications from the individual package engineers and third party suppliers.

5. Design Reviews
a. Responsible for directing and coordinating, or input to; the system design review.
b. Ensure that the package engineer design reviews meet the requirements of the Design Basis Memorandum.
c. Help maintain the design review action register and closure of the actions.

6. Preparation of System Documents such as:
a. Project system procedures and plans.
b. System P&ID’s.
c. System block diagrams.
d. System drawing list.

7. Risk Assessment, HAZID’s etc.
a. Help coordinate the necessary reviews in conjunction with Reliability group and the Controls Project engineer.
b. Ensure closure of any actions arising from the reviews pertaining to engineering requirements.
c. Take part and provide input to company HAZOP's.

8. Materials and Welding
a. Generate, or input to; the material and welding matrices for the project in conjunction with the metallurgy and welding departments.
b. Manage and coordinate the preparation of the Materials and Welding Design Memorandum for all equipment, by the project metallurgy and welding engineers.

9. Soil Analysis
a. Manage and coordinate the analysis work undertaken to verify the foundation structures.
b. Work closely with foundation engineer to review and develop detailed foundation specifications to meet the project requirements.

10. Flow Assurance
a. Manage and coordinate the analysis work undertaken to meet project flow assurance requirements.
b. Provide information to allow the thermal analysis to be undertaken, if required. Manage the timely conclusion of this analysis
c. Review the system with the flow assurance specialists to ensure compatibility with hydrate prevention strategy, chemical injection requirements, effects of slugging etc.
d. Manage and co-ordinate work undertaken to simulate and mitigate erosion hot spots.

11. Riser analysis
a. Manage and coordinate the timely conclusion of any BOP riser analysis work required to support the design of the jumper system. Confirm the wellhead and mating tree connector loading is maintained within the wellhead and connector limitations.

12. Reliability, Availability. Maintainability (RAM)
a. Assist the Controls Project engineer in providing relevant information for the RAM study.
b. Provide support and input to the RAD (Reliability and Assurance Document).

13. Cathodic Protection (CP)
a. Manage the completion of the CP study in conjunction with the package engineers. Ensure that electrical continuity and satisfactory earthing requirements are being considered across the entire project.
b. Provide input parameters for CP calculations in compliance with project specifications.

14. Project Testing Regime
a. Ensure project testing requirements are being met by generating, or input to; a project test matrix and SPS Philosophy Test Document.
b. Develop and maintain a list of qualification test plans and requirements for the project. Maintain and update QAR (Qualification Activity Register) on completion of outstanding qualification tests.
c. SIT – ensure system requirements are met and fully verified.
d. SIT – manage the generation of and provide input and guidance to the subsea tree, manifold, jumpers and foundation SIT procedures by the package engineers.
e. Ensure all Site Receipt Testing (SRT), pre-shipment and storage procedures are completed by the relevant package engineers and provide input where necessary.

15. Operation, Installation and Maintenance
a. Generate, or input to; the system O&M manual.
b. Review installation procedures.
c. Ensure interfaces relating to installation are identified, worked properly and closed out.
d. Review operating procedures.
e. Manage and facilitate ROV accessibility studies across all packages and interfaces.
f. Collate and review Installation and Commissioning spares.

16. Project Close-Out
a. Provide input for project close out report and alignment with Company close out process.
b. Attend all lessons learned meetings; assist with preparation of lessons learned report.

Requirements:
  • At least 8 year experience working on SPS equipment design
  • Good interpersonal and presentational skills; the role requires interaction with both internal, third party and customer personnel
