A PhD position is available in the groups of Dr. Johanne Egge Rinholm and Prof. Magnar Bjørås at the Division of laboratory medicine at Oslo University Hospital (OUH), Rikshospitalet, campus Sintef (https://www.ous-research.no/rinholm/). The position is for a project focused on lactate signaling in the healthy and ischemic brain, using mouse models as well as human cerebral organoids. The aim of the project is to investigate the involvement of a lactate receptor in ischemia-induced brain injury. Methods include work with mouse models and organoid cultures, RNA sequencing and immunostaining.
The position is funded for a period of 3 years, with a 6 month probation period. Preferred starting date is in spring 2020, but this can be discussed.

Qualifications

  • MSc in neuroscience, molecular biology or related field, or a medical degree
  • Experience with some of the methods listed above will be considered an advantage
  • Strong laboratory, analytical, and communication skills
  • Fluency in English
