Professor - Energy Technology

The Faculty of Engineering, Østfold University College (ØUC), Norway, is seeking a highly qualified and scientifically well established professor in Energy Technology. The candidate must fulfill the national standard for qualifying as a full professor.

This year the faculty will start a new 2 year Master Programme in Green Energy Technologies (120 ECTS). This Master Programme consists of two specializations: Smart Energy Technology and Smart Materials for Energy Technology. The professor is expected to play a significant role in the development of the study programme.

• teach and supervise bachelor and master students
• further develop the new Master Programme in Green Energy Technology
• conducting research and apply for external funding

Formal requirements:

• PhD in a relevant field of Electrical Engineering
• documented publishing history during the last 5 years in internationally acclaimed journals with peer review within Power Systems, Smart Grids, Micro Grids, Renewable Energy System Integration, Energy Management Systems or other electrical engineering topics related to energy technology
• teaching experience at university level
• good oral and written skills in English

Desired skills and experience:

• experience with relevant software programs
• documented experience with competitive research funding
• documented experience with PhD and master student supervision in the field
• project management experience
• experience from industry and/or applied research institution
• good oral and written communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
   

General qualification requirements

There are general requirements for higher education, research qualifications/relevant practice and practical pedagogical competence. Read more about the requirements in the regulations on recruitment and promotion in teaching and research positions.

Permanent employment in the position requires educational qualifications. A position as assistant professor, senior lecturer or associate professor requires courses in university and university college pedagogy (200 hours) and qualifications in forms of digital learning (50 hours). If you do not fulfil the requirement for pedagogical qualifications, the employment is provisional for up to two years. The university college offers a course of study in practical university college pedagogy and digital teaching forms.

Applicants with insufficient abilities in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language may be required to acquire the necessary oral and written skills over a three-year period. The language requirement is documented by the passing of the Bergen Test at level B2, or equivalent.

• the position is remunerated as 1013 pofessor between NOK 704 900 - 837 200. The salary scale will depend on qualifications, experience and a market assessment.
