Visit Trondheim seeks a sharp writer and skilled communicator, an ambitious digital magician who is professional, detail oriented, deadline driven and a self-starter. The ideal candidate has a graphic design background with creativity and innovation flowing through your veins. You love writing and have a thirst for creative storytelling - in English. You have your thumb on the pulse of the city with a deep-rooted love for Trondheim. 


The Digital Marketer will be an integral part of the Marketing team, reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager. Day-to-day responsibilities will consist of communications, brand marketing, digital marketing, company events, and industry evangelism being diligent in establishing Trondheim as a destination city to an international audience. This role will also be responsible for social media oversight of Visit Trondheim’s diverse set of social channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest. You would join a small, hard-working team with broad skills, an agile, DIY mindset, and the eagerness to have a massive impact and tell the stories that shape Trondheim.


Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of what is going on in the city: Partner events, festivals, conferences, concerts, new restaurants, experiences etc.
  • Collaborate and work in partnership with different parts of the organization
  • Assist in creating on-brand, high quality marketing collateral including monthly newsletters, byline articles, press releases, presentations, and updated web content
  • Own the social media content calendar
  • Grow and expand the company’s social media presence through engaging content, masterful storytelling, and building upon the existing community
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager to ideate original content and storytelling that resonates with our audience and stands out in the competitive travel industry
  • Be a social media expert, staying up to date on social trends and tools
  • Develop comprehensive social reports for Marketing Manager
  • Take on additional special projects as needed, once mastery of initial responsibilities is exhibited


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a journalist or marketing writer
  • 3+ years of experience as a social media manager for a large organization, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Burning interest in new social media digital trends and opportunities
  • Experience in online social publishing and analytic tools such as Later, Hootsuite  Bit.ly, and project management tools such as Asana and Basecamp
  • Strong ability to develop creative, clear, and engaging copy with an eye and instinct on what works on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube - You can clearly articulate what posts belong on what channel and why
  • Demonstrated channel growth track record (particularly related to social commerce)
  • Strong, witty writer and editor with deep knowledge of English grammar
  • Knowledge of photography, photo editing and design (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience in web publishing platforms such as Squarespace, WordPress or similar
  • Strong interpersonal, multi-tasking and organization skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Self-starter with a DIY mentality and grace under (deadline) pressure
  • Demonstrate hunger, passion, and tenacity; both with regard to the position and the destination

Working hours: The position involves some travel business, flexible working hours and you have to expect to work evenings & weekends occasionally.
