We are looking for a Data Scientist to strengthen our Analytics team

We are looking for a Data Scientist to strengthen our Analytics team in Oslo/Arendal.

In Gard, analytics is not only an essential part of our business and culture, but also a way for us to create value for our members and clients and set us apart from our competitors.

Currently, the main responsibility of the Analytics team is to ensure that our pricing strategies have a strong numeric foundation. While the future aim of the team is to expand the ability to prevent losses by using new sources of data, and to contribute to other parts of our business.

The right candidate for this position will work together with team members with backgrounds from finance, business, and actuarial science and cooperate with a large network of Gard experts in different fields like maritime law, naval engineering, environmental science, and many others.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Build and maintain predictive models in Python, and/or R.
Ensure that analytics in Gard is based on state-of-the art methods and technologies.
Together with team members, build an effective analytics team and contribute towards strengthening the data culture in the wider organisation.
Explore new opportunities of data gathering (sensor data, text mining, etc.).
Maintain and build internal and external partner relationships.

Skills & Requirements:

Sufficient experience to generate results independently and challenge established truths.
An established data science tool box of programming and statistical skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team.
Eagerness to develop by learning new skills and methods.
Experience with operationalizing models and building secure API-endpoints in a cloud environment is a plus.
A background from insurance and/or marine industries is an advantage, but not a requirement.
