Plan International Norge is now reqruiting a full time Senior Gender and Inclusion Adviser.

The department of Program and Influencing is responsible for the execution, follow-up and development of Plan International Norway’s development and humanitarian portfolio in cooperation with prioritized country offices, partners and donors. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to country offices and partners to ensure high quality programs
  • Technical adviser on proposal development and support donor engagement relating to Gender and Inclusion
  • Responsible for follow up of a portfolio in assigned country/ies throughout the project cycle
  • For assigned country/ies; project follow-up of narrative and financial reporting in collaboration with national and international colleagues.
  • Actively engage in partnership building with assigned Country Offices and Regional Offices, including in the development of Country Strategic Plans and Regional Strategic Plans when needed.
  • Responsible for monitoring the development in assigned countries and regions to support the position of Plan Int. Norway's priorities and funding needs.
  • Contribute to capacity building in the thematic area in our office as well as across the Plan Intl Federation.
  • Participate in global processes within given thematic area when required
  • Provide thematic program support and quality assurance throughout the program/project cycle in close co-operation and co-ordination with Program Advisers also at field level when required.
  • Contribute to the mobilization of political and financial support through advocacy efforts and resource mobilization, including concept and funding proposal development.
  • Responsible to advocate for political or thematic issues within area of expertise


Minimum Requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field of work required. Master’s Degree will be preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in related field.
  • Field experience required.


Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the given thematic and geographic area, with a demonstrated ability to apply theory into practice relevant to the context.
  • Demonstrable problem solving ability and ability to make principled but ethical decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of development and/or humanitarian issues, particularly human/child rights, trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • Ability to deliver training within thematic area
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, research and learning.
  • Excellent writing, editing, administration, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions to execute own goals
  • Ability to work within a project organized structure.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Aptitude for creativity and learning new ways of doing things to maintain relevant and up to date knowledge on trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of project cycle management and grant management, including budget follow up and proposal writing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child rights-based and partner based programming at field level, donor requirements, financial principles, and ability to represent Plan Intl. Norway to external audiences, donors and government officials.

  • Fluent Norwegian and English, French or other languages is an advantage
  • About 3-4 trips to Plan program countries per year will be required in the position, as well as shorter trips to for example other offices within Plan.
