ABOUT THE JOB:

Nordic Semiconductor's R&D capacity is expanding. We are looking to recruit a talented, experienced engineer to join the DevOps team in the Software Group in R&D in Trondheim.
Working in the DevOps team, you will be responsible for facilitating CI/CD solutions to software teams at Nordic. This includes implementing a strategy for installing and maintaining build and test nodes, tool chain management, and license management in Linux and Windows operating systems. Effective allocation of SW build resources to different team is also part of your responsibility.
You will be involved in the selection and purchase of SW tools and HW components for the SW build system. Maintenance work in the build server room, including installation of PC hardware and RF equipment, is also part of your role.

Nordic Semiconductor has R&D sites in various locations throughout the world. We are looking to recruit a DevOps Engineer in Trondheim. When working with cross-site projects, you will be expected to travel occasionally, in addition to everyday communication with product teams in Poland and Finland.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job involves a range of activities that may vary over time. On a regular basis, your responsibilities include:

• Maintenance of the existing CI/CD system to ensure maximum availability with little or no downtime. The CI/CD system is in critical path for the delivery of projects
• Planning future development / improvements of the CI/CD system. This includes screening for new SW tools, selecting SW tools, and organizing the roll-out of the tools in the Nordic infrastructure
• Defining processes and implementing them in day-to-day activities
• Assisting developers in using the automated build system and troubleshooting problems
• Involvement in HW upgrades (purchase and installation) of the build server infrastructure
• Ensuring smooth communication between developer teams and the IT department on daily matters as well as long-term planning

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar engineering program with preferably at least 2 years' relevant work experience
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar engineering program with preferably at least 4 years' relevant work experience
• Experience with troubleshooting on Windows and Linux environments
• Knowledge about CI processes and hands-on experience with at least one CI tool, preferably Jenkins
• Knowledge about virtual environments and container-based environments
• Experience with scripting in Python or similar languages
• Excellent communication skills. Fluent English language (written and oral)

 DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Deep knowledge about Linux and Windows OS
• Broad experience in setting up complex CI/CD systems and their maintenance
• Experience in handling CI/CD for distributed development
• Broad experience with Jenkins
• Experience with Docker and the DTR
• Experience with open source and internal configuration management - GitHub, SVN, Bitbucket, etc.
