About UnITy

UnITy is the joint IT department between the shipping companies G2 Ocean, Gearbulk and Grieg Star. The unit was established in January 2019 and provides high quality services and solutions for the three companies.

UnITy is developing into a digital advisor and a business driver. The team is growing and will by the end of 2019 consist of 40 employees – all working together to maintain the IT infrastructure and shape the digital future of the companies. UnITy focuses on delivering digital solutions within the following areas;

The position: Building a Unified IT – Together

As a Project Manager IT, you are taking part in an international working environment and collaborate with colleagues in Bergen, United Kingdom, Vancouver, Atlanta and the IT support center in Manila. The candidate reports to Vice President IT and Head of UnITy Kristin Helen Andersen.

As a Project Manager IT, you are responsible for generating ideas, initiating, planning, designing, budgeting and managing projects of various size and nature. Some of the tasks include:

• Managing and coordinating ongoing projects in UnITy
• Helping to prioritise projects according to the partners needs
• Optimising the use of project resources
• Promoting and sharing best practices
• Ensuring that the project objectives are measured and met
• Identifying areas of improvements in regards to productivity, quality and efficiency in UnITy and suggesting actions to progress
• Breaking down project deliveries into timelines and budgets to be reported
• Enhancing the communication between UnITy and customer base in G2O, GB and GS
• Driving new perspectives in IT; from solution focus to customer products
• Supporting strategic initiatives and directions
• Creating and contributing to weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of working experience in management consulting or similar
• Master level business degree, preferably within business development, technology and digitalisation
• Certificate in project management, Prince2 or other
• Strong written and oral English communication skills

The company was established in May 2017 and operates the largest fleet of open hatch vessels worldwide, in addition to a substantial fleet of conventional bulk carriers. Gearbulk

Since 1968, Gearbulk has been setting standards for reliable, cost-effective and innovative ocean transport. Gearbulk has a proud history associated with the transportation of cargoes that require special handling and stowage such as pulp, aluminum, orange juice or granite, including conventional bulk. Each year our ships make thousands of ports calls in more than 70 countries on five continents.

Grieg Star

Grieg Star is part of the privately-owned Grieg Group, which was established in 1884. The company owns, manages and operates shipping services worldwide. The company employs approximately 740 persons, of which 90 are shore-based and 650 at sea.

The company operates a fleet of approximately 40 vessels transporting parcel cargo, break bulk and dry bulk cargo. All Grieg Star vessels are a part of the G2 Ocean pool.
