Aker Solutions’ Controls R&D department, at Tranby Technology Center in Norway, is responsible for design and development of next-generation subsea control systems, electrical actuators, condition and performance monitoring and electrification of subsea products.

The department comprises of 60 people and is a spearhead within the company, developing new technologies and enabling digitalization for our reputable major clients.

The Controls R&D department consists of 4 discipline units, all working closely together:

Product Architecture & Test
Hardware Electronics & Mechanics
Product Software Embedded & Application
Scada - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

Our development strategy is built on state-of-the-art processes and methodology, such as agile, virtualization and test-driven development. The department has direct access to in-house lab facilities with equipment and tools for concept development, prototyping and testing.

We are expanding and now looking for an enthusiastic Junior Embedded Electronics Developer to join our team. Are you the one?

Responsibilities and Tasks

You will participate in projects developing embedded electronic circuit boards based on functional and physical requirements. Development tasks will vary from prototypes and mock-up’s, to release candidates for end products. Daily activities will involve schematic design, design verification, FMECA’s and qualification according to industry standards. Developers are also involved in the industrialization of the products and cooperate with the manufacturing site, defining production test requirements and “design for manufacturing/test”.

Qualifications and Personal Qualities

University degree, BSc or MSc in relevant engineering discipline
Enthusiastic and creative with a passion for learning
Structured, systematic and self-driven
Good communication and cultural skills with the ability to work in teams as well as independently
Ability to understand technical specifications and requirements and develop these into excellent detailed solutions
Experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred, but not required:
- Low voltage power design
- Electric drive design and control
- Instrumentation interfaces (Canbus, Modbus, Analougue I/O)
- Communication interfaces (Optical/Electrical Ethernet, Modem and PLC communications)
Experience with Altium or similar development tools is a bonus
Layout experience is also a bonus
