Junior Embedded Software Developer

Aker Solutions’ Controls R&D department, at Tranby Technology Center in Norway, is responsible for design and development of next-generation subsea control systems, electrical actuators, condition and performance monitoring and electrification of subsea products.

The department comprises of 60 people and is a spearhead within the company, developing new technologies and enabling digitalization for our reputable major clients.

The Controls R&D department consists of 4 discipline units, all working closely together:

• Product Architecture & Test
• Hardware Electronics & Mechanics
• Product Software Embedded & Application
• Scada - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

Our development strategy is built on state-of-the-art processes and methodology, such as agile, virtualization and test-driven development. The department has direct access to in-house lab facilities with equipment and tools for concept development, prototyping and testing.

We are expanding and now looking for an enthusiastic Junior Embedded Software Developer to join our team. Are you the one?

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Take part in all project phases from requirements analysis to verification and support
• Develop products and software according to Aker Solutions’ strategy and quality demands
• Technical lead responsibility for the ESW discipline within projects
• Responsibility for internal SW components, both legacy components and new
• Maintain and troubleshoot our product portfolio

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

• MSc degree within electronics, embedded SW, cybernetics or similar
• Minimum 5 years' experience in software development, preferably on Linux and/or QNX/FreeRTOS
• Relevant experience from subsea projects is desired, but not required
• Ability to handle complex specifications and develop consistent solutions
• Good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in teams as well as independently
• Team lead and/or technical lead experience is appreciated, but not required
• Enthusiastic and creative, with a proven record of delivering results

Experience in one or more of the following are desirable:

• Communication interfaces (Optical/Electrical Ethernet, Modem and PLC communications)Process Control
• Serial and analogue instrument interfaces
• CANOpen and Modbus protocols
• Performance and condition monitoring
• Equipment Management
• Controller loops, control systems
• Driver/BSP development
