Canal Digital is a Nordic company experiencing an exploding increase in real-time behavioral and digital data. We are looking for a Data Engineer who has a proven record of successfully building and supporting analytics solutions and platforms to join us in our evolution. You will be implementing and evolving innovative capabilities to solve complex scenarios.

DevOps & Analytics is a team in Canal Digital AS. We are a team of 15 Data Engineers and Data Scientists who are responsible for Data & Analytics strategy, roadmap and execution of projects and initiatives. Reporting to the DevOps & Analytics, the role has a Nordic scope.

To further scale or team, we are now looking for a Data Engineer with experience in working with large platform solution eco-systems. You have an interest in integrations, different data sources and formats, as well a strong commitment to opportunities that are offered when you are able to utilize data in a smart way. As a person you are self-sufficient, resourceful, structured and curious. You are self-motivated as well as a strong team player; but most importantly, you have a strong interest in data and a willingness to learn more.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Operation, development and maintenance of data warehouse solution
  • Designing and building the architecture platforms with highly scalable data integration/ETL pipelines to improve data accessibility and consumption, both for real-time and batch processing
  • Identifying data sources and implementing these into Canal Digital?s big data platform
  • Evolving our process and architecture by implementing new technologies
  • Troubleshooting
  • Responsibility for data roadmap and strategy
  • Act as an advisor and claimant for the rest of the organization in terms of data acquisition and adaption of data for reporting and analysis

Preferred qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields
  • Experience working with data warehouse and data platforms
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, GCP or similar
  • Experience with multiple programming languages (i.e. Java, JavaScript, Python or similar)
  • Experience with writing tests
  • Experience in data modeling and building effective models for large quantities of data
  • Ability to see opportunities in data and communicate this through analyzes and models
  • Experience with automating things and building systems

Bonus qualifications

  • Experience with Talend ETL data integration tool
  • Experience with QlikView/QlikSense
  • Machine learning experience

An integral part of our TV-packages is the TV-Everywhere platform. This is an Internet streaming service included in the subscription to all our customers. It includes live TV channels, archives with last week?s programs, complete seasons of TV-series (Box Sets), Kids programs as well as rental movies and series. The streaming service is available on the decoder and on PC, as well as an app for mobile, tablets, Apple TV and Samsung Smart TV. New content, devices and features are being added all the time.
