Work tasks
The immune system plays an important role in the development and metastasizing of breast cancer and a prominent variation in immune profiles is identified for the different subtypes of breast cancer. The main object of this PhD thesis is to study different types of immune response and connect the interaction between tumor cells and immune cells at different stages of the disease and between different subtypes of breast cancer. The project consists of collecting and processing patient material, implement and optimize methods and analyze both immune and tumor cells from lymph nodes and primary tumors from breast cancer patients.
The candidate will receive training and guidance and work in a social, dynamic and multi disciplinary environment.
The candidate will be employed at the Department of Cancer Genetics, located at the Institute for Cancer Research at the Norwegian Radium Hospital, and work in a research group with focus on "genomic alterations in breast cancer" and work interdisciplinary alongside immunologist, molecular biologists, medical doctors, mathematicians and engineers.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for the project which requires conduction of experiments, optimize methods, computer analysis and writing manuscripts. The candidate will attend relevant courses and be present at international conferences.
Qualifications
- Master degree in medicine/biology/immunology/molecular biology
- Proficient in written and oral English
- Experience in basic lab and analytical methods
