We are looking for a Nordic Quality and EHS Manager


Alstom is leading in the field of innovations aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. For all public transport companies in the Nordics, we are an important supplier of equipment and systems and we are the partner to meet the growing need for public transport.

In the Nordic countries, Alstom has around 400 employees and offices in Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen, as well as several local offices and service depots.


The Nordic Quality and Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and upholding standards regarding the continuous improvement Quality approach and the improvement of EHS performance within our Nordic organization. This means defining and implementing high and realistic standards, supporting and challenging process owners to reach these standards and reporting to Senior Management. It also means to manage a network of EHS and Quality Site Managers. The position will furthermore cover the Project EHS responsibility for the ERTMS Onboard project in Oslo.


The EHS & Quality network has a strong link to the central organization in Paris, and this role will have a reporting line to the Nordic Management team as well to Europe EHS & Quality Director. This position is based in Oslo, Norway, but will require frequent travels to our sites within the Nordic according the business demands and also in Europe.


Main responsibilities:

  • Advice, coach and support operational management in the implementation of the defined Quality & EHS procedure and actions
  • Maintain the EHS management system based on Alstom Zero Deviation Policy, SCC (VCA) and CO2 performance standard at the highest level
  • Develop and implement strategies taking into account the business and corporate requirements for managing and continually improving the company’s Quality & EHS standards
  • Ensure that there are adequate documented processes and procedures in place to address the activities of the business
  • Ensure consistency of QCD objectives and the contractual/regulatory obligations applicable to the projects
  • Leading an ‘Cultural Change’ program aiming to improve safety performance & Right first Time Approach
  • Travel to field locations to support setup on proper Quality & EHS structure and procedures
  • Be the driver for Alstom’s sustainability work; meaning defining and driving improvement plans that are in line with Alstom Nordics vision and strategy
  • Implement and enforce the ERTMS onboard Alstom EHS & Waste Management plans in line with Bane NOR’s requirements and the laws of Norway
  • Coordinate with the various Stakeholders (BaneNOR, BaneNOR Eiendom, RVOs …, Norway Authorities, 3rd Parties for certification/qualifications …) on EHS matters
  • Support Project Management in achieving EHS objectives


Skills and education

The successful candidate will have minimum a bachelor degree in Engineering/Safety Engineering/Quality (electromechanical, electrical and/or material) or equivalent is preferable and 10 years or more experience within a complex and technical (project) environment. Strong knowledge of required qualifications of Quality & EHS management systems and operational experience from working on site is required. Experience from railway projects would be an advantage. Fluency in English and Norwegian is required.
