Wallenius Wilhelmsen is searching for a Legal Counsel to join our Global Legal & Compliance Team. The position is based in Lysaker, Norway, at our Central Office. The Global Legal Team is responsible for providing legal advice to the organization. The position reports to the SVP Legal and Compliance & General Counsel.
As a Legal Counsel you will handle a broad range of legal & compliance matters, and support global cross departmental projects. You will also collaborate with external legal counsels to support the business by working through critically important and complex legal issues in a rapidly evolving environment.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Be responsible to manage and drive relevant Legal & Compliance Business Plan initiatives
- To proactively support the Central Office functions with legal advice as required effectively and efficiently, including in connection with contract reviews and negotiations
- Organize and conduct legal and compliance training in the central office and other locations from time to time
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Law with good results
- Minimum 3 years’ experience from a law firm and/or international corporation, preferably being a qualified lawyer
- Good understanding of Shipping, Corporate -, Contract – and Finance related laws and regulations
- Project management/transaction skills
- Fluency in English
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when needed

Through various projects, you will develop a global network at all levels of the organization, and it is therefore essential that you have cross-cultural understanding and are able to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization.
