The goal of Save the Children's child rights work is to strengthen the implementation of the UN Convention on the rights of the child and the respect for child rights in humanitarian law at country level and globally. We strengthen governments' ability to monitor and fulfill children's rights, we improve the capacity of civil society to demand the rights of children and we make sure that children participate and influence decision-making processes. The position shall support and strengthen Programme Quality and Impact by providing Technical Expertise/Assistance (TE/TA) on Child Rights Programming (CRP), Child Rights Governance (CRG) and child participation to Save the Children Norway and Save the Children International country offices. The position shall contribute to child rights strategy development, design and innovation, capacity and quality enhancement, fundraising and business development, in addition to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL).   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 
  • Programme design, strategy development, proposal development and fundraising targeting institutional donors and the corporate sector
  • Provide systematic technical advice and mentoring, of staff and partners in country offices to support quality interventions at country level including humanitarian innovation and use of technology-based approaches
  • Plan and deliver capacity development and training to in-country technical teams and partners, including cross country learning from good examples and program development based on global priorities
  • Strategy development, design and innovation of child rights work, including support to developing and implementing Country Strategic Plans and "Common Approaches"
  • Support Country offices and humanitarian response teams to develop, grow and improve the technical quality of child rights programming
  • Support quality documentation and reporting to monitor progress and learning in programs
  • Conduct political economy analysis at country office level to identify gaps
  • Ensure that child rights programs are inclusive, gender- and disability oriented with a focus of reaching the most marginalized children
  • Support innovation in the areas of "Child Centered Social Accountability" and "Strengthen Civil Society"
  QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Experience working with children's rights and/or human rights
  • Knowledge of international legal instruments, international humanitarian law, international reporting and monitoring mechanism, governance at national and local level
  • Academic qualifications at master's level in a relevant discipline 
  • Experience with programme design, monitoring, results documentation and reporting 
  • Experience with proposal writing and fundraising from institutional donors and the corporate sector 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Skills in Norwegian, Spanish and/or French is an advantage
  • Knowledge and skills in one or more of the innovation areas specified above
  • Experience in designing and delivering training, including strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders
  • Experience from use of technology-based interventions
