Do you want to perform an essential job for Norwegian Church Aid by creating new project concepts and initiatives and ensuring that those are ultimately funded and realised?  As our International Grants Advisor, you will support our country offices in developing new concepts and initiatives, lead funding processes, and quality assure applications, contracts and reports to institutional donors. You will assess and identify funding and investment opportunities for NCA as well as building the capacity of those around you. You are self-driven, structured and work with a systematic approach. You have the ability to build strong partnerships across all areas of the organization and with colleagues at all levels, from senior leadership to national staff employees. You have experience in getting the best out of your colleagues and at making teams work.   

The position is based at NCAs Headquarters in Oslo in the Department for international programmes, Division for partnerships and strategic solutions. You will also be part our head office team on International Donors, where you will work in a multicultural work environment with highly competent and professional colleagues.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead application processes to institutional donors such as NMFA, ECHO, PRM, UNHCR, UNICEF, DFID, EuropeAid etc.  
  • Advise leaders on strategic decisions, analyze trends, and identify funding opportunities 
  • Build relationships and assure that NCA shows international presence and visibility on different relevant arenas  
  • Build capacity of staff and partners on all aspects of grant management and ensure our implementation is aligned with donor expectations 

Qualifications

  • Relevant formal, higher education in e.g. international development, administration, management or business 
  • Experience in international development; knowledge of approaches and terminology 
  • Experience in developing projects and writing proposals for institutional donors 
  • Understanding of results-based management, project planning and management cycle 
  • Proven understanding of donor regulations including foreign government development agencies and multilateral development agencies  
  • Fluency in English, written and oral, is a requirement 
  • Experience working with multi-cultural and multi-national teams
  • Experience in building relationship towards international donors 
  • Norwegian, French, Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills are an advantage

  • Excellent organisational and teamwork skills, including prioritization, planning and project coordination skills 
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills 
  • Ability and willingness to travel 
  • The person employed must be loyal to Norwegian Church Aid´s Christian values
