The position is a part of a collaboration between the NPUC and Nord University. The position is linked up to the two international R&D projects MARPART (www.marpart.no) and MAREC where Nord university is the lead partner. The senior researcher/researcher will be a part of a research group of about 15 researchers in eight countries, including a research group of five researchers and PhD students at the Nord University High North Center. The research will also be linked to the Nord Preparedness management lab, where different managerial concepts as well as management training and computer-assisted exercise solutions are tested.

Temporary up to 12-month position in 100 %. Also possible in 50 % position.

Arbeidsoppgaver

  • The position's role and main responsibilities

    The senior researcher/researcher will take part in comparative research on emergency preparedness organization and emergency management related to large scale emergency situations. A special focus is on the management of joint operations between different emergency agencies as well as private-public and civilian-military cooperation. Cooperation across borders is also in focus. Within the project, the testing of different management concepts in training and exercises using computer-assisted simulation will take place.

  • Crisis and emergency management issues
  • High reliability organisations -intra- and inter-organizational links
  • Organizational forms and managerial roles within emergency response agencies
  • Civilian and military organizational structures and cooperation platforms
  • International cooperation within emergency preparedness - organization of host nation support
  • Training and exercise concepts for coordinative roles within emergency management
  • Emergency management training schemes at different levels
  • Computer-assisted simulation tools within management training

Kvalifikasjoner

  • Professional qualifications, experience and education

    Required qualifications:
  • As senior researcher code 1109: A doctorate degree or an equivalent education within social sciences, preferably within organization and management theory.
  • As researcher code 1108: A master degree or an equivalent education within social sciences, preferably within organization and management theory.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English

    In addition:
  • The research idea/plan for the research period
  • The candidate's motivation for the position
  • Knowledge of Norway and geographical countries and sea areas in the higher north
