Communications Adviser Head Office Oslo

External Relations is responsible for NRC's profile and identity, private sector fundraising, corporate partnerships, media relations, content production, internal communication, and public engagement.

This role / responsibility

The Communications Adviser is responsible for production, translation and editing of editorial content in English, advising others on writing, editing and style. The overall goal is to create engagement in the public!

You will be reporting to Project manager Content Production.

The role implies;

  • Text production for NRC websites, social media and publications
  • Editing and proof reading of English text
  • Responsible for translations from Norwegian to English 
  • Advise on style, tone of voice, editing and writing to colleagues in Country Offices, Regional Offices, Representative Offices and Head Office
  • Publishing stories on NRC's websites
  • Contributing to editorial development and strategies
  • Responsible for the implementation, use and continued development of NRC's English style guide
  • Reply to inquiries from NRC staff and external stakeholders on editorial matters
  • Contact with freelance translators and proof readers

Who are you?

In order to succeed in this role, we need you to be a native English speaker, and fluency in Norwegian is also preferable. You have very strong proficiency in written English, strong editing skills, journalistic abilities, and digital competence. You have knowledge of the humanitarian sector or related field. We further believe you have a minimum of 3 years' working experience in a defined communication role. You are skilled in copy editing, proof reading and translation. You are familiar with web publishing. Relevant higher education degree at bachelor level or higher.

You are driven by a sense of purpose and can relate to our mission to deliver high-quality aid where needs are greatest.

The position is a permanent position based at Head Office, central Oslo, terms as per national contract.
